The Retired Men’s Association of Greenwich’s Sept 2 speaker is Lear Beyer. His talk is titled, “Prelude to a Revolution in a New York Border Town.”
As we celebrate the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, it is easy to envision that there was a groundswell of patriotic support among the American colonists to separate from King George III and Great Britain. Colonists, however, were far from unified in their views toward independence. Join the RMA for this America 250/Greenwich lecture and learn about the choice many local residents had to make between pledging loyalty to the King, supporting independence, or just staying quiet as much as possible.

Lear Beyer is a longtime resident of Rye, NY and has done extensive research on the people and events that impacted local life in Westchester County up to and during the American Revolution. He is a board member of the Rye Historical Society.
Mr. Beyer is a seasoned executive and philanthropist with more than three decades of experience in the financial sector, specializing in equity capital markets. He held senior roles at Wells Fargo from 2005 until 2023 where he advised hundreds of companies on public offerings and capital raising. Prior to Wells Fargo, Mr. Beyer held senior roles at Citi from 1993 to 2005.
His commitment to philanthropy is evident in his extensive nonprofit experience, including board service and support for organizations such as DREAM (formerly Harlem RBI) and the Westchester Children’s Museum. He currently serves as the Co-founder and Chairman of the Board of The Bridge Foundation for Student Athletes, which is dedicated to supporting student athletes in both their academic and athletic endeavors. He is graduate of Vanderbilt University and New York University.
The talk begins at 11:00am at Christ Church, Parish Hall, 254 East Putnam Ave., Greenwich. The program will also be shown on Zoom (click here for live feed), and on local cable channels 24 (Verizon) and 79 (Optimum).
