St. Patrick’s Parade to Feature Bagpipe Bands, Irish Step Dancers, Pyramid Shriners Motor Patrol

The Greenwich St. Patrick’s Parade sponsored by the Greenwich Hibernian Association will take place on Sunday March 17, 2024. This will be the organization’s 48th annual parade.

The parade will be led by Grand Marshal Thomas Byrne. The Parade will start at Town Hall at 2:00pm when Greenwich Police Officer James Ketterer blows the ceremonial starting whistle.

Ketterer’s Irish ancestors came from County Mayo in Ireland. After leaving Town Hall the Parade will head up Field Point Road to US 1 up to the top of Greenwich Avenue then down the length of Greenwich Avenue.

This year’s parade will be the largest in parade history. There will be 6 Bagpipe Bands included in the 13 total bands: Greenwich Pipe Band, Fairfield County Police Pipes and Drums, Westchester Firefighters Pipes and Drums, Pelham Regional Pipe Band, Celtic Cross Pipes and Drums, Port Chester High School Marching Band, Tappan Zee Bridgemen, Nash Drum Corp., Wholly Brass Band, Sound Beach Community Band, Greenwich High School Jazz Band, Connecticut Patriot Fife and Drum Band and the Fairfiled Gaelic Pipe Band.

In addition there will be at least 70 groups of local schools, scouts, fire and police departments and civic organizations marching.

There will be Irish Step Dancers from 2 local schools – Lynn Academy of Irish dance and Harney Pender Keady Academy of Irish Dance.

A number of antique and vintage vehicles will be in the parade including an antique van sponsored by Sam Bridge Nursery. The always popular Pyramid Shriners Motor Patrol will perform in their miniature cars.
