Greenwich Lions make $20,000 in local grants

The Greenwich Lions Club is pleased to report that despite cancellation of its annual spring fundraiser, it will still distribute over $20,000 this year in Foundation grants to local health and human services.

Some of this funding was made possible by a scaled-back fall grapefruit sale enthusiastically supported by the community.

Projects and entities who are receiving funding include: GSA Scholarships, Neighbor to Neighbor, Meals on Wheels, Abilis, Coffee for Good, Wheel It Forward and GADC-River House.

Also, $3,000 to help local children and seniors access eye care and eye glasses.

Funds have been directed to rejuvenating the Lions Low Vision Center, conducting pediatric eye screenings at all Town elementary schools, and sponsoring summer camp scholarships for visually impaired youngsters. The group also makes grants to local and regional agencies working to alleviate food insecurity.

Greenwich Lions fundraising continues year-round. Please support them and the community by making a direct contribution. Mail your check to Greenwich Lions Foundation, P.O. Box 130 Old Greenwich 06870
