A little rain didn’t dampen the high spirits on Sunday at the 21st annual Walk/Run for Abilis, a “friendraiser” for the local non profit.
The Walk/Run is designed for individuals of all ages and abilities. It included a 5K run, followed by a one-mile accessible walk at Tod’s Point.
Celebrity fitness instructor and choreographer Billy Blanks Jr, founder of Dance It Out, led the warm-ups.

Participants and teams were encouraged to create shirts, outfits, hats, buttons, or banners to show team spirit and compete for prizes.
Proceeds from the event will be used to enhance Abilis’ day program, which delivers life-skills training, job coaching and friendship-building activities tailored to each Abilis community member. State funding covers large-group supports but not the individualized attention every person deserves.
It’s not too late to donate to the event.
Abilis supports more than 800 people with disabilities and their families from birth throughout their lives. Founded in 1951, Abilis is celebrating its 75th anniversary and serves communities including Darien, Greenwich, New Canaan, Norwalk, Ridgefield, Stamford, Westport, and Wilton.
