State Senator Fazio Joins Coffee for Good to Raise Awareness on World Autism Day and Volunteer Month

In honor of World Autism Awareness Day and Volunteer Month, State Senator Ryan Fazio (R-36) visited Coffee for Good, a local nonprofit in Greenwich dedicated to empowering individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities through employment training.

Senator Fazio, a long-time supporter of Coffee for Good, rolled up his sleeves and learned the fundamentals of coffee-making and customer service from trainees May and Will.

“I love Coffee for Good and all its wonderful trainees,” Fazio said in a release. “It’s inspiring to see the dedication and skills the individuals are building at this local business. These young people bring so much to our community, and I’m so glad Coffee for Good exists in our town to help them build skills and thrive in the workforce. Supporting organizations like theirs is crucial for creating a community and world where everyone can succeed no matter their intellectual or developmental abilities.”

Deb Rogan, Executive Director said Fazio, normally a customer, rolled up his sleeves and tied on an apron to learn from our trainees May and Will.

“They taught him how to operate our customer check out and the basics of being a barista,” Rogan said. “Ryan has been supportive of the Coffee for Good mission since we opened in 2021 and believes in the importance of a diverse workforce.”
