Meals on Wheels Grateful to 70 Drivers Delivering Prepared Meals and Cheer

Meals on Wheels of is very fortunate to have 70 drivers who drive 11 routes throughout Greenwich five days to 95 clients each week, bringing prepared meals and a little cheer.

Recognizing volunteers is something the organization does year round, but they will not gather this year for their annual recognition luncheon since they do not want to endanger their clientele, volunteers and staff.

Throughout the pandemic Meals on Wheels worked hard to protect their clients and drivers from the various surges in Covid. Masks and testing have been available.

They added weekly bags of fruit and a loaf of sour dough bread through partnerships with Neighbor to Neighbor and COBS Bread because clients were avoiding going to the grocery store as much as possible.

The board members of Meals on Wheels want the community to know the effort that continues to be made to keep the program as healthy as possible and that they appreciate the volunteers who make delivery possible.

As always if you or anyone you know would benefit from a home-delivered meal please call the Meals on Wheels Director Lynne Stewart at 203 869-1312.
