Tyler was a son, brother, best friend, star athlete and role model in the Greenwich community. The most recurring theme in his life was his desire to use his time on this earth to help others. Tyler grew up going to Garden Catering, and loved a bacon, egg and cheese, topped with cones and honey mustard.
His junior year, Tyler suffered a shoulder injury that required major surgery. Like too many before him, and unfortunately too many after him, this was when Tyler unknowingly began his years-long battle with the disease of addiction.
It’s from Tyler’s love, selflessness, and compassion that the Tyler G. Foundation was born.
His family started the foundation not only to help others who are suffering from the disease of addiction, but also to honor the incredible impact that Tyler had and the countless people he helped and inspired along the way.
On Tyler’s birthday, Tuesday, June 18, Garden Catering will donate 100% of the proceeds from the sale of Tyler’s favorite sandwich to the Tyler G. Foundation. The Tyler G Foundation is dedicated to helping those suffering from addiction by increasing local education initiatives, facilitating family resource programs and financing addiction recovery.
“We’re absolutely thrilled to be partnering with Garden Catering to raise awareness about the disease of addiction,” said Patrick Gwozdz, CEO of the Tyler G Foundation. “Garden Catering has been a part of our family for almost thirty years. There is no better way to honor Tyler’s birthday than to partner with a company that does so much for our community and has such a special place in our hearts.”
“Tyler was very much a part of the Garden Catering family. Not only did Tyler grow up at GC, he also loved our staff just as much as we loved him back. Tyler was a young man who was always there for his friends, community, and most of all, family,” said Frank Carpenteri Jr., CEO of Garden Catering. “I’m extremely proud to have a small part in honoring Tyler’s legacy and supporting the Tyler G. Foundation.”
