Fireworks Picnic-In-A-Box Fundraiser to Benefit Parks & Rec Foundation

The Town of Greenwich Parks and Recreation Foundation announces its first-ever Firework Picnic Fundraiser in conjunction with the planned Town fireworks on the evenings of July 3 and July 5.

Supporters will be able to pre-order picnic boxes for curbside pick-up from 4:00 – 6:00 pm at the Eastern Greenwich Civic Center on the day of the fireworks, rain, or shine. The separate fireworks displays are scheduled for both evenings at Greenwich Point Park, starting at about 9:10 pm. If either show is canceled due to inclement weather, the catered meals will still be available for pick-up. Greenwich Magazine/Moffly Media is also sponsoring the Firework Picnic Fundraiser.

Partnering with award-winning Marcia Selden Catering, $20 from each order will be donated to the Town of Greenwich Parks and Recreation Foundation. The number of meals available will be limited, so ordering early is advised no later than June 30. There are five meal options available, with each box serving two people. Among the choices of meals will be lobster rolls, sliced beef sandwiches, chicken caesar wraps, and tequila shrimp, all with specially curated accompaniments. Orders can be placed at https://www.towngreenwichprfoundation.org.

“The Parks and Recreation Department is looking forward to the return of this longstanding summer tradition in Greenwich. People gathering at Greenwich Point under the stars for an Independence Day celebration is certainly a step toward normalcy,” said Director of Parks and Recreation Joseph Siciliano.

“I am very pleased to see the Parks and Recreation Foundation support the Department through strategic philanthropic partnerships and revenue development such as the Firework Picnic fundraiser” Siciliano added. “This unique and creative food offering is sure to please everyone who purchases them while contributing to the Foundation’s mission of serving the entire community.”

On July 3 and July 5, Greenwich Point will be closed to vehicles as of 8:00 pm or when the parking reaches capacity, whichever comes first.

Either a seasonal park pass or a single-entry guest pass will be required for entry to Greenwich Point. Nonresidents must purchase single entry tickets as well as parking passes.

The Town of Greenwich Parks and Recreation Foundation is a private non-profit organization to support and enhance our Town’s heritage of parks and open spaces. This tax-exempt entity is designed to supplement public funding with the private donations and volunteer efforts of our community.

The Foundation is dedicated to the transformative experiences our beautiful outdoors affords us in Greenwich, including capital improvements, park development and maintenance, landscape improvements, playground, and picnic area upgrades, beautification projects, special community events, and youth scholarships for recreational programs as well as underfunded activities like camp scholarships.
