At Parsonage Cottage, Giving Back is Beautiful

Small businesses are a key part of the Greenwich community. Often owned by residents of the Town, they are part of the social fabric, pulling people together, flourishing even in hard times, and, in turn,
giving back to others. Recently, Beyond Beautiful, a medical spa offering high-quality products and services saw an opportunity to support a fundraising effort by Parsonage Cottage Senior Residence
looking to replace their almost 20-year-old van.

When she heard about the undertaking, Melissa Ann, the owner of Beyond Beautiful, decided to hold a series of fundraisers from which she would donate a percentage of the proceeds to Parsonage. Last week, Melissa Ann proudly presented a check to Parsonage Cottage Executive Director Penny Lore for $2,000.

Earlier this year, the Parsonage Cottage Fundraising and Junior Advisory Boards launched the community-wide fundraising campaign to make new, accessible transportation a reality.

“I am so grateful to the support shown by our Greenwich neighbors to fund replacing our aging van,” Lore said, adding. “It wasn’t just individuals who understood the importance of external engagement for our seniors but also the local business community. When small businesses like Beyond Beautiful lean in and give back, it is a great example of what makes Greenwich an exceptional place to live.”

For Melissa Ann, a 30-year veteran of the medical profession and an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, improving the quality of life for the seniors at Parsonage Cottage comes naturally.

“I am very familiar with the exceptional care the staff at Parsonage bestows upon the residents,” she said. “As the weather gets warmer, I know that residents will want to connect back into the community as we all do, and that requires having the means to travel around Greenwich safely. I am so grateful to the many clients who came to Beyond Beautiful to support our efforts. It goes without saying that giving back to the community is truly a beautiful thing.”

Lore is pleased to say that Parsonage Cottage is getting close to achieving its goal of raising $60,000 and urges her fellow residents to continue to support their efforts of once again getting Parsonage residents safely and comfortably traveling throughout Greenwich.
