In a benefit concert performed to help pay for the GHS band’s annual trip, Grammy-nominated Afro-Latin jazz trumpeter Michael Philip Mossman’s sextet filled the GHS auditorium on Sunday afternoon. The high school’s Jazz Ensemble opened for Mossman’s sextet, who played a variety of styles. The GHS concert and symphony bands also performed and the wind ensemble concluded the show.
Last year the band traveled to Havana. This year the GHS musicians are set to travel to Washington DC. Sunday’s concert raised funds for scholarships for the trip.
On Tuesday, Nov. 3, the band plans to hold an Election Day Bake Sale in the GHS glass corridor all day during Election Day.
