The fifth graders at New Lebanon School in Byram are ready to perform Finding Nemo Kids this week.
The program is made possible by the Greenwich Alliance for Education. According to Alliance director Julie Faryniarz, this is the fourth year the non-profit has funded the comprehensive theater program at New Lebanon.
With this year’s grant they will have reached $113,000 in program support.

“This play is only part of what the grant makes possible,” Faryniarz said, adding that the grant also funds a K-2 Theater Club, 3-5 Declamation Contest, trips to live theater performances for every student in the school and more.
“Carol Pugliano-Martin had an incredible vision for New Lebanon Theater when she submitted the first Reaching Out Grant proposal in 2021,” Faryniarz said. “Four years later, there is a talented group of teachers and staff that work together to make all of the parts happen. The students benefit in so many ways. ”

Ms Pugliano-Martin explained that every year New Lebanon includes a philanthropic element to their show.
From donating to an animal shelter for Aristocats to their production of Seussical, where they sent Dr. Seuss books to a school in Puerto Rico who lost their library in a hurricane, New Lebanon school is always thinking of others in need.
For this year’s showing of Finding Nemo KIDS, New Lebanon is collecting for SoundWaters of Stamford to go towards scholarships to their environmental summer camp.
Break a Leg, New Leb! Or should we say, Break a Fin?
