On Wednesday, Boys & Girls Club of Greenwich members will get to meet Meg Tolin Piper who played ‘Maria’ on Broadway alongside Richard Chamberlain who played Captain von Trappis.
Piper is expected to meet with the children at 6:30 p.m. at the Clubhouse on Horseneck Lane.
BGCG members are especially excited because they have been tirelessly working on their rendition of the Sound of Music since December 2014. This marks the Club’s fifth mainstage musical. The theatre program at Boys & Girls Club of Greenwich is based on the belief that access to the Arts is integral to the development of society. This program offers performance opportunities to hundreds of members annually.
The Sound of Music is based on the memoir of Maria von Trapp, the story of the Trapp Family Singers. The show includes “Edelweiss”, “My Favorite Things”, “Climb Ev’ry Mountain”, “Do-Re-Mi”, and the title song “The Sound of Music”.
Christina Kampler is directing the musical with Zachary Kampler as musical director, Jennifer Dunn as choreographer (with Don Palmer, BGCG program director; Rocco Natale, artistic director emeritus). April 24 & 25, 2015 performances sold out the same day the box office opened; however, a limited number of seats have been added to both days of the performance. Tickets are just $10 each.
