At their July 9 meeting, the Selectmen had their first read for the road closure request.
Ms Khanna asked if the special event permit paperwork approvals had been completed, and Father Peter Lenox said they were 90% compete.
On July 23, which was the second read, the pastor was unavailable to attend, so Frank Frank Cortese represented the church.
Ms Khanna inquired about the paperwork again.
“We’re almost at the finish line,” Cortese said. “There’s a little re tape we’re going through.”
“If you’re 99% of the way there, I’m not worried about it,” First Selectman Camillo said.
The road closure was separate from the special event permit; the Board of selectmen voted 3-0 to approve it.
Separately, work has been ongoing on the parking deck at Hamilton Avenue School, starting in summer 2025 and continuing in 2026.
It turns out the work on the parking deck is not yet completed.
This week the First Selectman’s office at the Town of Greenwich requested a noise ordinance exemption in order that work can be conducted over the weekend of July 25-26, which is outside the hours typically allowed for construction between 7:00am and 7:00pm.
“Greenwich Public Schools is trying to complete the work on the parking deck before the feast,” said Greenwich Schools communications director Jonathan Supranowitz on Thursday. “That’s why we are working weekends.”
