Sophia Scarpelli is renowned for extravagant costume rentals and racks of vintage clothing at her shop “Sophia’s” at 1 Liberty Way in Greenwich.
The shop packs a vast assortment into the two compact floors, just a stone’s throw from Greenwich Avenue.
“We’re going strong after 35 years in business,” Sophia said on Thursday. Indeed, the Greenwich native has no plans to leave. But change is afoot.
Sophia is clearing out her entire selection of vintage clothing with a blow-out 50% off sale, going on now!
“We’re going to dedicate the top floor exclusively to costume rentals,” she said. “That means we’re liquidating all our vintage items.”

The sale continues through March, but hurry for the best pickings! Sophia has rack after rack of vintage leather, suede and fur coats; hand-beaded cardigans, gowns, skirts, blouses, boots, shoes, bags, jewelry and more.
Scarpelli said in addition to clothing, she also has real stone jewelry priced at 20% to %50 percent off.
Upstairs, rack after rack is jammed with one-of-a-kind pieces, all in good to excellent condition.
“I’m selling everything for a fraction of its original price,” she said.
After everything is cleared out, Sophia will dedicate the entire second floor of the shop to the extravagant and on-of-a-kind costume rentals she has increasingly become known for.
“You want to be Caeser? You can get fantastic leather sandals that lace up your legs. We’ll even have platform shoes with fish inside the heels,” she said, adding that customers will also be able to rent random pieces like a giant rhinestone choker or elegant evening gown.
