Arbor Day Tree Dedication at Malkin Preserve Highlights Its Wide Variety of Trees

The Greenwich Land Trust and Greenwich Tree Conservancy commemorated Arbor Day on with a tree planting ceremony at the Malkin Preserve where there are 14 varieties of apple trees. That is notable in an era where apple varieties are diminishing due to growers consolidating on mass-market varieties. Community Celebrates Arbor Day with Apple Orchard Planting

Greenwich Land Trust and the Greenwich Tree Conservancy invite the public to celebrate Arbor Day, Thursday, April 26 at 2:00 pm with a tree planting ceremony at the newly established Heirloom Orchard at the Malkin Preserve.

Audi Wins Rematch at P&Z in Overtime

Despite a show of force by RTM members and neighbors of the Audi dealership on West Putnam Ave, Audi won approval for their expansion and updates to exterior lighting. Peter Quigley, member of the harbor commission expressed “grave” concerns about pollution to Horseneck Brook, which feeds into Long Island Sound. There was also vociferous opposition came from a stream of RTM members from all parts of town, including Mike Warner, Peter Berg and Bill Galvin, as well as Ginny Gwynn, director of Greenwich Land Trust.
