On Sunday the “Parade of Champions” featuring Greenwich High School sports teams that were CT State Championships in 2022-2023 made its way from town hall to Greenwich Ave via Elm Street. Led by Boy Scouts an encouraged by GHS cheerleaders, the parade was organized by BOE chair and former rugby team coach, Joe Kelly, along with First Selectman Fred Camillo and GHS principal Ralph Mayo. A half dozen fire trucks completed the assemblage.
Loudspeakers blasted Queen’s “We Are the Champions” as the teams filed down West Elm Street toward Greenwich Ave.
Along the route, families lined the streets to cheer on their athletes who made their way to Greenwich Commons by the Havemeyer building where the Chicken Joe’s food truck and an ice cream truck awaited.
