A letter was sent to Hamilton Avenue School parents on Wednesday announcing the departure of principal Cindy Rigling. Rigling was appointed by former Greenwich Schools Superintendent Bill McKersie.
Dear Hamilton Avenue Families,
It is with very mixed emotions that I write to share that I will be
resigning my position as Principal of Hamilton Avenue School. There
are times when opportunities present themselves, that simply cannot be
ignored. Though I was in no way seeking to leave Hamilton Avenue, I
was approached with a remarkable opportunity for professional growth.
I will assume a leadership position with GEMS World Academy in
Chicago, Illinois effective July 1, 2017. GEMS World Academy is both a
STEM and an International Baccalaureate school, combining two inquiry
based frameworks for education in which I believe wholeheartedly.
I am confident that the STEM work we have started at Hamilton Avenue
will sustain. There is a culture of enthusiasm and excitement in this school and an
evolving growth mindset throughout the building. We are a community
of learners and leaders at Hamilton Avenue. Together we have grown;
each year a little stronger and wiser.
It has been my honor and privilege to serve in the role of Principal
at Hamilton Avenue for the past two years. I am extremely grateful
for the opportunity to have worked with each of you and your
incredible children and for the tremendous amount of support received
by both the Board of Education and the Hamilton Avenue parent
community as we developed the new magnet theme. I could not have
imagined working with a more talented team of teachers and staff and
Hamilton Avenue will always hold a special place in my heart.
I will remain in my current position through the end of June and hope
be able to talk with many of you over the next few months. I will
look forward to hearing about Hamilton Avenue’s success!
Wishing you all the best,
Cindy C. Rigling, M.Ed.
Principal, Hamilton Avenue School
