Update: The Aug 31 is a meet and greet. The first full day of school is Sept. 1.
An email on Aug 30 from Hamilton Avenue School Principal Cindy Rigling explained to families that the school’s parking lot and the garage underneath will not be quite complete in time for Wednesday’s meet-and-greet.
Also, on Tuesday, Lt. Kraig Gray, the press information officer at Greenwich Police Dept, said that those who commute through Chickahominy should, “plan ahead and practice patience.”
Below is the email Principal Cindy Rigling sent to families on Tuesday.
Dear Hamilton Avenue School Families,
I am very pleased to inform you that we will have full access to the parking lot and the garage at Hamilton Avenue, beginning September 1, 2016.
I look forward to seeing you at our Meet and Greet on Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at 2:15p.m. It is very important that you walk or carpool to the event since we will have only limited access to the lot on Wednesday, August 31st. We have made arrangements for Hamilton Avenue School staff to park at another location, to create additional parking spaces in the lower garage. Though the upper parking deck will be closed, our handicapped parking spaces will be available. If you are driving, please model our School Norms to Be Safe and Care for Self and Others! There will be a Greenwich Police Officer at the school to help direct traffic and assure safe arrivals and departures.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation and I hope to see you all at the Meet and Greet! Don’t forget to visit the resource fair on Thursday morning at 8:30 in the Science Lab for information about what the school and community can offer you and your family.
Principal, Hamilton Avenue School
