At the FCIAC West Division Championship last Saturday at Staples High School, the Greenwich girls won the meet overall with a total of 136 points, well ahead of 7 other schools. The girls started off by placing 3rd in the 4x240m relay and 1st in the 4x800m, as well as many other notable performances in the 1000m, 600m, Mile, 300m, and 4x400m.

Their most recent success was placing 3rd overall in the FCIAC Championship at Hillhouse High School in New Haven last Thursday night. Although the team was on track to win the meet, they were still able to place in the top 3 despite missing valuable teammates and the athletes not feeling their best.

The team’s biggest victory was placing 1st in the 4×800 relay, with their team of Lauren Resnick, Ellie Daplyn, Orla Muir, and Maggie McCooe. Their time is presently top 5 in Connecticut.

In the 1000m, Esme Daplyn placed 1st overall with a time less than 1 second off her CT #4 season’s best. Kate Friedman placed 3rd overall with a new personal record that is now CT #9. Esme scored 10 points and Kate scored 6.

In the fastest heat of the 600m, sophomores Gemma Hardwick and Maggie McCooe together scored 6 points for the team. Gemma placed 4th overall and Maggie placed 5th.

In the Mile, Esme Daplyn placed 3rd and Lauren Resnick placed 8th both with insanely fast times. The Sprint Medley Relay followed with Greenwich girls Nina Silver, Annabelle De Gennaro, Maggie McCooe, and Kate Friedman placing 3rd.

In the 2 mile, Kate Friedman placed 6th with an amazing time that is currently CT #9, and Ava Passamano placed 14th with a time that is now CT #30.

The last event of the meet was the 4×400 relay, in which the team of Gemma Hardwick, Orla Muir, Lauren Resnick, and Esme Daplyn placed 3rd overall.
