UPDATE: GHS Lock Down is Over, No Injuries

4:10pm From Greenwich Schools. 4:00 pm Update:

The Greenwich High School lockdown has been lifted. Students are being dismissed. Transportation will be provided. Parents/guardians may now pick up.

After school activities are cancelled for the high school; EXCEPT for the Choral Concert, which will proceed as scheduled tonight.  Continuing Education classes will proceed as scheduled. We will send a communication summarizing the day’s events later this evening.


El bloqueo de Greenwich High School ha sido levantado.

Los estudiantes son despedidos.

Se proporcionará transporte. Los padres / tutores pueden recoger ahora.

Después de las actividades escolares se cancelan de la escuela secundaria; Excepto por el concierto coral, que se procederá de la noche programada.

3:58pm According to Greenwich Police, the Greenwich High School’s lock down is over and there were no injuries. The Greenwich Police investigation continues. Dismissal will follow the Board of Education transportation plan.

3:30pm: From Greenwich Schools.  The police are continuing the investigation. Please understand that during a police investigation details are not released to ensure the safety of the students and staff and the integrity of the operation. We understand you are concerned about the time of release, please know that it takes time to move through a school of this size. Dismissal will not take place until the police deem the site is safe for all. We will update you with more information as soon as we are able to.

Por favor, comprenda que durante un policía detalles de la investigación no son liberados para garantizar la seguridad de los estudiantes y el personal y la integridad de la operación. Entendemos que está preocupado por el momento del lanzamiento, por favor, sabemos que se necesita tiempo para moverse a través de una escuela de este tamaño. 3:18pm: Greenwich Police Tweeted that officers continue to move through the school without incident. In the interest of safety, the process takes time. There is no estimate for dismissal.

2:45pm: Greenwich Schools sent alert: “All students and staff continue to be safe. GHS is still in lockdown. The Police are continuing their investigation. High school dismissal will be announced as soon as the information is available.”

All other schools are continuing with regular dismissal.

In Spanish: Todos los estudiantes y el personal siguen siendo seguros. GHS se encuentra todavía en el bloqueo. La policía continúa su investigación. desestimación de la escuela secundaria se dará a conocer tan pronto como la información está disponible.

1:45pm: GREENWICH HIGH SCHOOL WILL NOT DISMISS AT 2:15PM

In an email from Kim Eves, it was announced, “At the present time the Greenwich Police Department is continuing to ensure the high school is safe. The high school will not be dismissed at 2:15 p.m. Dismissal will occur when we are certain that it is safe to do so. An announcement will be made about the dismissal time and the status of after school activities as soon as we have that information. Transportation will be provided for all those that regularly ride the bus. All other schools will be dismissed on time.”

Texted photo from student in a room with a substitute teacher who is unfamiliar with procedure so they barricaded the door. 1:50pm.

1:37pm:  A GHS student relayed that kids are being evacuated to the performing arts center. Rooms are being searched one by one and students are being patted down.

1:19pm Kim Eves sent message to parents/media: “Greenwich High School is on lockdown based on a threat. Numerous first responders are on scene to investigate. no one is injured. All students are safe. No other schools are involved. Do not go to the high school. More information to follow as soon as it becomes available. ”

In Spanish:

“Greenwich High School se encuentra en clausura basada en una amenaza. Numerosos son los primeros en responder a la escena para investigar. nadie está lesionado. Todos los estudiantes están a salvo. No hay otras escuelas están involucrados. No ir a la escuela secundaria. Más información para seguir tan pronto como esté disponible.”

1:18pm. GPD Tweeted, “Lockdown procedures are moving smoothly. Please avoid the area”

Greenwich High School is on lockdown as of about 12:30pm on Wednesday. GFP has received texts from students inside the high school saying SWAT team and Greenwich Police are on scene. Students texted that they are afraid.

Greenwich Police are Tweeting that no one is hurt and parents should avoid the area during investigation.

According to Greenwich Police Lt. Kraig Gray, the lockdown resulted form “a threat.”
