DUI, Reckless Endangerment Charges for Driver with Skateboarder Hanging on to Side of Car

On Friday July 5 around 9:20pm Greenwich Police spotted a 2019 BMW X3 traveling on Steamboat Road with a male hanging onto the side of the car while riding a skateboard.

Officers stopped the car and discovered the driver, later identified as 21-year-old Michael Palmgren of Putnam Park in Greenwich, displayed signs of impairment. They say he had bloodshot, glassy eyes and smelled of alcohol.

Palmgren, who did not possess a valid driver’s license, admitted to drinking a beer while driving and a cold, half-empty can of beer was located in the car.

He was charged with DUI, Driving without a License, Drinking While Driving and Reckless Endangerment 2.

After posting his $250 bond he was released and has a date in Stamford Superior Court on July 19, 2019.

The skateboarder has not been charged as of this time, Lt Slusarz said on Monday. The male skateboarder could be charged with Misuse of Highway by Pedestrian, which would be a ticket.
