New Lebanon Update: Below Disagreement there is Unity in Byram

The public hearing at New Lebanon School on Tuesday brought a large disagreement to light between those in favor of Scheme B and Scheme D. A letter from the Byram Neighborhood Association, while not endorsing either site, detailed a list of community specifications that all parties can stand behind. Eversource to Provide Revised Rendering of 290 Railroad Ave Substation

Eversource’s senior communications specialist Frank Poirot promised that on Monday the utility company would provide a revised map of the 2.3 mile transmission line from Cos Cob to the new substation, and an updated rendering of the proposed building at 290 Railroad Ave. Currently, the owners of Pet Pantry Warehouse who lease the existing building at 290 Railroad Ave, are on the agenda for the June 16 Planning & Zoning agenda. Their application proposes to add a 2nd story to the building at 1191 East Putnam Ave they purchased last year for a second Greenwich store location. Preventing Retail Theft: Greenwich Police Seminar Open to Retailers and Public

Greenwich Chamber of Commerce invites all retail stores to participate in the “How To Prevent Retail Theft” seminar that will be presented at the Police Department at 11 Bruce Place, 3rd floor on Monday, June 22, from 6:15-7:15 p.m.

Detective Mark Solomon will advise businesses on ways to avoid loss.  All store owners, employees and members of the public are invited to attend. Meet the Fantastic Five: GHS Interns Learn to Deliver News “In the Moment” at Greenwich Free Press

Greenwich Free Press lucked out this spring with five wonderful Greenwich High School interns. Walker, Jason, Katie, Uma, and Kailee all met for the first time five weeks ago at Elton’s Café in Greenwich Library where they each received their editor privileges. The interns learned how to upload stories and photos. They also learned to monitor Greenwich Free Press engagement on Facebook and Twitter. New Leb Mom: Scheme D Was Perfect for 1950

One New Leb parent, volunteer and Byram homeowner says that not only did the rejection of Scheme C negate the thoughtful hard work by the professionals and neighborhood leaders on feasibility teams, but Scheme D was thrown together in just a few weeks and has only anecdotal evidence supporting it. Byram Resident: New Leb “Plan B Makes No Sense at All

“Plan B setting of a new school building makes no sense at all…an operating school next to a major construction site is an accident waiting to happen. This should be clear to anyone who has ever raised a child. …The architect’s rendering ignores the east/west orientation of the building, which will insure the proposed ‘campus’ will spend half the school day (more than half in winter) in darkness. Think slippery not green and welcoming.
