Jane Hogeman, 72

Jane Hogeman, an attorney who had a private practice in Greenwich from 1986 to 2015, died this month after a brief illness in Pinehurst, North Carolina.

In Greenwich, Hogeman focused on real estate and zoning law. Her practice centered on municipal regulation, including appearances before zoning, environmental, historic district and architectural review bodies.

Hogeman served on the Board of the Greenwich Land Trust for 12 years, and as its President for two.   During her tenure, the Land Trust underwent the training and organizational restructuring to achieve accreditation from the national Land Trust Alliance. 

She was also a member of the Board of the Greenwich United Way for six years, and served as Chairman of the Greenwich Community Planning Council for Health and Human Services, a partnership of the United Way and the Greenwich Department of Social Services. 

In addition, Hogeman served as an officer of the Greenwich Historical Society for five years.

Before moving to Greenwich, she was in-house counsel to the Governor’s Organized Crime Prevention Commission of the State of New Mexico for four years.

In 2015 Hogeman retired to Pinehurst, North Carolina, where she won a seat on the Village Council in 2019 and was nearing the end of her first term.

Hogeman was born in Hartford, Connecticut.  She graduated from the University of Michigan in 1972 with a B.A. in the History of Art, and from the University of Michigan Law School, cum laude, in 1976.  Her son, daughter in law and grandchildren live in Houston, Texas.

Hogeman is survived by her son, daughter-in-law, grandchildren, sister, and brother-in-law. No services have been set at this time.
