Rose DeVita, 91

Rose DeVita of Greenwich, passed away August 19th at the age of 91. She was born in Rose, Italy on March 16, 1935 to Lorenzo and Carmela (Covello) Siciliano. Rose immigrated to the United States in 1951. She married Joseph DeVita on April 22, 1954.

She was a homemaker and worked as a seamstress making suede and leather clothing, she also worked at Mechtronics as a supervisor on an assembly line making retail displays. Rose did beautiful crochetwork, she could look at a pattern and duplicate it without instructions. She enjoyed her garden.

Every spring her yard would explode with daffodils. She grew beautiful peonies, bearded irises and gladiolas, as well as many vegetables. She always looked forward to the bounty of their fig tree. Rose baked her own bread and always made homemade pasta for Sunday family dinners. She enjoyed winters in Naples, Florida with her husband Joseph who predeceased her in 2024.

Together they traveled the world, took ballroom dance lessons and were often seen dancing at weddings, parties and Bermuda Greens social events. Rose is now reunited with her beloved husband Joe. She leaves behind her loving and devoted son Carmine and his wife Barbara, dear grandchildren Michael DeVita (Melissa) Lisa Salvatore (Michael), cherished great grandchildren Isabella, Leonardo, Charlie and Giulia. She also leaves behind a sister Ida and many nieces and nephews. Rose was predeceased by her parents, sisters Gemma, Angelina, Assunta and brother Paul.

To honor Rose’s life, family and friends will gather on Monday, August 24, from 4-8:00pm at Coxe & Graziano Funeral Home, 134 Hamilton Ave, Greenwich, 203-869-5968, where a service will take place Tuesday morning at 10:30.

Entombment will follow at Putnam Cemetery. The DeVita family would like to thank the staff at Nathaniel Witherell for their loving care of Rose.
