Trio of Social Workers at Nathaniel Witherell Named Town Employees of the Month

At The Nathaniel Witherell, the town-owner nursing home, Wendy Laychak LMSW; Justine Vaccaro LMSW, Director of Social Work/Compliance Officer; and Elaine Conklin LMSW were recently named as Town Employees of the Month by First Selectman Fred Camillo.

Camillo presented the three women, valued members of the social work team, with “Certificates of Special Recognition” at brief ceremony at the Witherell.

“I am constantly impressed by the tireless work and dedication from our social workers,” said John Mastronardi, Executive Director of the Nathaniel Witherell.

“They are the bridge between our residents, families, staff and the community, and constantly navigate challenging situations with grace and empathy. They go above and beyond every day here.”

The award is especially significant as the month of March is Social Workers Appreciation Month which honors and highlights how social workers enrich our society by empowering people to overcome hurdles that prevent them from living life to the fullest.

Social workers have been breaking barriers for generations.
