John Mastronardi, Executive Director of The Nathaniel Witherell, the town-owned nursing home on Parsonage Road in Greenwich, announced Monday the appointment of Jack DiTeodoro, MD as the facility’s new Medical Director.

Dr. DiTeodoro, a Board-Certified Family Practitioner, assumed the role of Nathaniel Witherell’s Medical Director on February 5, 2024. He replaces Dr. Francis X. Walsh, a member of the Witherell’s medical staff for 50 years and its Medical Director since 2008. Dr. Walsh will continue as an attending physician.

Besides conducting a successful private practice in Stamford, Dr. DiTeodoro is a teaching
attending at Stamford Hospital in their Family Practice Residency Program where he also
worked as a hospitalist during the first coronavirus surge.

Dr. DiTeodoro earned a B.S. from St. John’s University and his medical degree from the Medical School at the American University of the Caribbean. He completed his residency at Mt. Sinai Medical Center and St. Joseph Medical Center.

“We are very happy to welcome to our team Dr. DiTeodoro, who has over 35 years of
experience specializing in family medicine, adult health and gerontology,” Mastronardi said in a release. “He will be an outstanding asset to our fine medical staff which provides the skilled nursing care that residents and short-term rehab patients require and continues the top-quality medical care the Witherell is renowned for.”

Mastronardi explained that the Medical Director’s role is essential in liaising with clinical staff, Nursing and Administration to ensure the highest quality care, thereby lowering hospital readmission rates and guiding the clinical and nursing staff to achieve the highest practicable health outcomes for our residents.

“To date, we’ve been most fortunate to have been able to work with Dr. Walsh, a well-
respected member of the local community, who has enjoyed one of the busiest practices in nephrology and internal medicine in Greenwich,” Mastronardi added. “His training, teaching and work all complement his strong commitment to his patients and all those he cared for at the Witherell. We’re very pleased that he’ll be staying on to work with Dr. DiTeodoro, caring for our long-term residents – many of whom have known and relied on him for years.”

“I am looking forward to working with the outstanding staff at The Nathaniel Witherell to provide excellent care to all those we serve,” Dr. DiTeodoro said in the release.
