RMA Speaker Series: Lauren Elliott “The Hard Parts About Assessing Taxes in Grreenwich”

Ben Franklin told us “in this world nothing is certain except death and taxes.” Lauren Elliott, the Assessor for the Town of Greenwich, wisely prefers to talk about Taxes. Specifically, on October 12 at 11:00am, Elliott will be the featured speaker of the Retired Men’s Association of Greenwich.

Ms. Elliott will explain the new assessment process, and describe some of the difficult decisions faced by the Assessor’s Office.

Greenwich now has an Assessor with over 30 years of experience in the tax assessment field.

Elliott was an assessor for many New England towns, including the City of Portsmouth NH. As a lawyer for over 8 years she litigated many appeals before the Massachusetts Appeals Board, has testified as an expert in both Connecticut and New Hampshire, and was director of the New England office for a national tax firm, covering real estate and personal property tax appeals.

Elliott graduated from Wheaton College in Norton, Massachusetts, earned her law degree at Western New England School of Law, and has an LLM in estate and gift tax.

The Greenwich Retired Men’s Association offers a free program every Wednesday that is open to the public, both men and women; no reservations are required. Our social break starts at 10:40AM followed promptly by our speaker at 11:00AM. Programs are at the First Presbyterian Church, 1 West Putnam in Greenwich.
