DPW Commissioner Siebert to Retire; Town Commences Search for Replacement

On Thursday, Dept of Public Works Deputy Commissioner Jim Michel confirmed that DPW Commissioner Amy Siebert planned to retire effective Jan 1, 2024.

The job was posted online on Wednesday, Nov 13. The salary range is $188,955.00 – $225,000.00

According to the posting for Commissioner, who also serves as the Town Engineer, the person, “Leads and directs the Town’s public works operations, including engineering, waste water collection and treatment, highway, storm drainage, traffic engineering, solid waste disposal and recycling, building inspection, and building design and construction, and maintenance services for all Town physical property, with the exception of school property. ”

Ms Siebert’s appointment as commissioner was announced back in 2008 by then First Selectman Peter Tesei, who noted that Siebert had served as the Deputy Commissioner since July 2007 and worked with the Commissioner to manage all aspects of the DPW’s seven divisions.

In 2004 Siebert joined the Town as Sewer Division Manager.

Prior to that, from 1990 to 2003 she was employed by Malcolm Pirnie, one of the largest firms in the S focused exclusively on environmental issues. Prior to that she held various research assistant positions with the US EPA, U Texas at Austin and Cornell University.

Siebert earned a BS in Environmental Technology from Cornell and a Masters of S Master of Science in Environmental Engineering from U Texas and a Masters in Public Affairs from the Lyndon Baines Johnson School of Public Affairs at University of Texas Austin.  She was also a licensed Professional Engineers with the State of Connecticut.
