Debates Continue for Nov 2, 2021 Municipal Elections

Decisions made at the local level have a profound impact on the quality of life in Greenwich. Plan now to be informed about the issues and the candidates for local public office. 

The following is a list of candidate debates.

Selectmen Candidates Talk Priorities for Greenwich during LWV Debate

The next debate for Selectmen candidates is on October 26:

Round Hill Association: Selectmen candidates debate on Oct 26 from 7:00pm to 8:30pm.
Registration information will be added when it becomes available.

It will be a hybrid presentation model, with the in person portion held in the Town Hall meeting room.
The candidates will be in-person along with a reduced size audience in-person.  The rest of the attendees will watch virtually.

The LWV Board of Education candidate debate (co-hosts are PTA Council and Greenwich Alliance for Education)
Tuesday, October 19, from 7:00 pm to 8:30pm.
Zoom login information will be emailed to the candidates and all event registrants the morning of
October 19.
Audience questions: submit with registration by Friday, Oct 15.
Moderator is Carol Reimers, past LWV CT president

Board of Education Candidates:
Republican – Megan Galletta; Cody Kittle; Michael-Joseph Mercanti-Anthony
Democrat – Laura Kostin and Kathleen Stowe

Note: LWV President: BOE Debate Will Not Include Write-in Candidate

The BOE consists of eight members for four-year staggered terms. In each election, a voter may vote for up to four candidates and those receiving the highest number of vote are elected, but no more than two from each party will be seated.

The LWV Board of Estimate and Taxation (BET) candidate debate
Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at 7:00pm.

Democratic Party Candidate Slate:
Incumbents: Laura Erickson, Miriam Kreuzer, Leslie Moriarty, Jeffrey Ramer, David Weisbrod
Candidate: Steve Selbst

Republican Pary Candidate Slate:
Incumbents: Bill Drake, Karen Fassuliotis, Leslie Tarkington
Candidates: Nisha Arora, Mike Basham, Dan Ozizmir

All Democratic and Republican candidates and incumbents will debate from 7:00pm to 8:30pm.

The moderator will be Kay Maxwell, a past president of the National and the Connecticut League of Women Voters.

Audience questions should be submitted with registration by October 20.
Zoom login information will be emailed to all event registrants the morning of October 27.

Voter Registration Deadlines: October 26, 8:00 pm. Limited registration until November 1 available only to those For those seeking to vote in election whose qualification as to age, citizenship or residence was attained since October 26th.  Town Registrar’s Office.  Hours: 8:00am – 5:00pm.

Election Day, Nov 2, 2021. Polling stations will be open from 6:00am to 8:00pm.


Absentee Ballots available for anyone with COVID concern began on October 1, 2021.

The Governor’s Executive Order under COVID still stands, allowing every citizen to vote either at the polls on November 2 or by absentee ballot.

Applications for an absentee ballot can be picked up at the Town Clerk’s office, or by calling the Clerk (203-622-7897), or by emailing the clerk ([email protected]), or downloaded from the Town website.
