Old Greenwich Farmers Market Welcomes Empanadas-on-the-Go

Jackie Mendive had her first day at the Old Greenwich Farmers Market in Wednesday. It was hot, but there were refreshments, relaxing live music, and the vendors offered shade under their rows of white tents.

Mrs. Mendive and her two helpers were a popular spot, and the line to sample and purchase the runaway hit empanadas that come baked or frozen had very few breaks.

By 4:00pm, both beef and chicken empanadas had sold out and runners headed home to replenish the supply.

The Wednesday afternoon market takes place at Presbyterian Church of Old Greenwich parking lot, 38 West End Avenue in Old Greenwich.

The market hours are 2:30 – 6:00pm through end of October, and 2:00pm – 5:00pm in November. Rain or shine.

Mendive will be at the market through mid November:

July 18 and 26

August 9 and 16

Sept 6 and 20

Oct 4 and 18

Nov 1 and 15
