SPILO: Today’s Democratic party in CT has moved so far left that they have blocked out large chunks of reality

Submitted by Michael Spilo

Reagan used to say, “they know so much that just ain’t so,” but today’s Democratic party in CT has moved so far left that they have blocked out large chunks of reality.

Ms. Khanna talks about her call to civic duty, but she seems to have forgotten that she couldn’t be bothered to vote in 12% of the votes during her time on the RTM.  She had better things to do than her civic duty. But the bigger problem is that she and other Democrats have lost touch with the problems we face.

Ms. Khanna at the Round Hill forum and signs around town say Democrats will “keep CT growing.” These Democrats missed the part where CT’s economy shrank 4.7% in Q2.  But could they really be unaware that CT’s GDP growth has been nonexistent through many years of unfettered Democrat rule?  In fact, CT never recovered from the Great Recession, much less the pandemic.  CT GDP is 7% LOWER than it was in 2008, while the rest of the country has seen GDP GROW by 30%. Any blips in recent growth due to federal spending are a fleeting drop in the bucket. Democrats want to keep up this stagnation, and that’s supposed to convince anyone to vote for them?

Ms. Khanna at the Round Hill Forum and Democrats’ articles online also trumpet low unemployment rates.  But the fact is that CT has seen NO JOBS growth for A VERY LONG TIME. CT has 30,000 FEWER jobs than in 2019 and 50,000 FEWER jobs than before the Great Recession, while the rest of the country has fully recovered from Covid and has 11% MORE jobs than before the Great Recession.

Years of Democrat driven GDP and Job stagnation, not to mention the current inflation which is decimating retirement savings and making mortgages unaffordable are all a direct result of failed policies, but at the Round Hill forum, the Democrat candidates were more concerned about Fairfield County air quality. Anyone who believes that air quality is on constituents’ list of top concerns, has lost touch with reality.

If we follow Democrats in their delusions, things will only get worse. Claims that Democrat candidates are “fiscally responsible” are as misguided as claims that CT is growing or that we have plenty of jobs.  Our State and our Country are headed in the wrong direction, and CT Democrats are leading the charge.
Recent Democrat policies have caused unprecedented inflation, dismantled our energy independence, and set the stage for the biggest run-up in the national debt in history, dwarfing even WWII. CT Democrats are cheering this on.  Literally. The other day on zoom, I watched in shock as another out of touch, mansion-dwelling local Democrat on our Town Energy Committee cheered the 36% run up in natural gas prices.  She, like the others, has lost touch with what it takes most people to make ends meet.

Our Republican candidates are the answer. They have not lost touch. Republican State candidate Fiorello, Sherr, Fazio and Lopez, as well as Stefanowski, Levy and Stevenson are realists.  They know fixing our economy means hard work and a practical perspective, and unlike Ms. Khanna, they are not confused about priorities and have a track record of SHOWING UP and doing the hard work to get us back on track.
