McGuigan: Gevanter is “The Real Deal”

To the Editor:

I first became acquainted with Alexis Gevanter when she was a chair of the Community Affairs Committee for the Junior League of Greenwich.  In this role she promoted the mission of the Junior League’s Vision 2020 project, a gender equality initiative timed to coincide with the centennial of the passage of the 19th Amendment, which gave women the right to vote.

Fast forward less than a year, and I am thrilled she appears on the August 17th State Senate 36th District Special Election ballot as the endorsed Democratic candidate.

Well before I met her, Alexis was advocating for a fairer and safer world.  As a lawyer she helped businesses make their workplaces more equitable.  As an advocate for Moms Demand Action she has demonstrable successes helping to pass gun safety and violence prevention legislation.

Alexis is the real deal.  She acts upon her values, and she has the track record to prove it.  Her experience working with state leaders from both parties in order to secure laws that benefit all of us will serve Connecticut well.  Please vote for her on August 17th, or better yet, complete your absentee ballot today!

Janet Stone McGuigan is the Democratic candidate for Greenwich Selectperson
