A vote for Christina Downey for the Board of Education is a vote to better our community by bettering our schools.
A resident of Greenwich for 26 years, Christina has been a highly visible community volunteer throughout our town and I have had the pleasure of knowing and working with her throughout most of those years.
Whether it be Riverside School, Eastern Middle School, Greenwich High School, Junior League of Greenwich, or RTM, Christina embraces each of her committee or leadership roles with vigor and dedicated effort, stepping up to address any needs by first assessing the situation and then collaborating to produce positive outcomes. She has consistently participated in numerous community or school groups, and ultimately risen to important leadership roles at the highest level of those groups.
When working with Christina, you sense that she is always one step ahead, thinking strategically with goals in mind while developing a plan to benefit all. She is a big-picture thinker but also a “boots-on-the-ground” doer – a perfect combination for the Board of Education. Yes, she is incredibly smart, but she is also a pleasure to work with. In addition to her diligent thought process and organization, Christina also brings a calming presence to tense moments in a meeting.
Christina is appreciative of what Greenwich Public Schools have done to benefit her own family. Christina has already given back at the individual level, by mentoring AVID students after graduation and through college.
Christina now believes that she can also meaningfully give back to the community at a macro level by serving on the Board of Education.
I believe that Christina will contribute mightily to carefully formulating strategy and policy that will continue to improve our schools, ensuring other students will have the experience her three children so fortunately received in the public school system. Let’s allow Christina this opportunity because it will benefit all of us.
Respectfully,
