Camillo on Bocchino for State Rep: Model of Community Spirit, Civic Leadership

Mike Bocchino is the epitome of community champion. Whether heading up his local PTA, running the Byram Neighborhood Association (BNA ), or volunteering his time for numerous other good causes, Mike is a constant presence in his home town.

When calls for assistance come his way, he  answers and almost always sees any and all endeavors he undertakes through to completion. A few years back, a local baseball legend, Sal Strazza, unfortunately left us too soon. Mike was quick to lead the charge to have the Byram School baseball field renamed to the Sal Strazza Field. Knowing Sal like I did, I know he would have been in awe of Mike’s determination on his behalf, the same type of effort that Sal was known to possess on baseball fields.

More recently, when the Byram Volunteer Fire Department ( BVFD ) was looking to reorganize and become active again, the Needs Clearing House, of which I am a co-founder, paired up with Mike and the BNA and both helped raise funds and collected items for the BVFD. Now, the BVFD is up to 16 volunteers when there was just one member a few months ago. That is true community spirit, and solid civic leadership.

The people of Greenwich and the good citizens of the 150th State Assembly District can rest assured that in Mike Bocchino, the Shoreline District will be in capable and strong hands in Hartford. From Mead Ave to Mead’s Point, from South Water to Sound Beach, from Belle Haven to Bruce Park, and from Indian Field  to Indian Head, Mike will be a reliable voice at the State Capitol, one that will make his constituents proud.
