“She was absolutely terrified when we finally found her, there is never an appropriate reason for doing this to a living, feeling creature,” animal control said in their post. “The dog is incredibly lucky that we found her in time and she is currently curled up in the shelter with a warm blanket and the rest of the hotdog I used to catch her.”

Anyone with information on the dog, who was abandoned on Way Hill Road in Waterford, or her owners is asked to call Waterford-East Lyme Animal Control at 860-442-9451 extension two and leave a message with your name and phone number.

Waterford-East Lyme Animal Control said they’d had a rough week and asked that people keep their comments constructive.

They also asked people to consider posting photos of animals they have adopted from their shelter or any other local shelter instead of posting negatively.

Readers from across the state and beyond responded with hundreds of shares, likes and photos of dogs (and cats and rabbits) adopted from local shelters.
