Larchmont Man Arrested after Hit-and-Run Crash in Greenwich

Greenwich Police arrested a Larchmont, NY man on Aug 21 after a crash in Chickahominy.

Around 10:00pm officers were dispatched to the area of 313 Hamilton Avenue on a report of a van having struck a parked vehicle and attempting to evade the scene. Upon arrival, the van was stopped at 10 St. Roch Ave having sustained heavy damage to its front bumper.

Police said video footage in the area showed the van, operated by Nelson Lopez Barrios, strike a parked car alongside the eastern most lane of Hamilton Avenue, back up and drive away.

Neighbors in the area heard the collision and followed the car to 10 St. Roch Ave where they got the driver’s attention by honking the horn.

The driver was identified as Nelson Eduardo Lopez Barrios, 24.

After Mr. Barrios saw the video footage, he admitted he attempted to drive away from the scene after knowingly colliding with a parked vehicle.

Mr. Barrios was arrested and charged with:

• Evading Responsibility / Injury/Property Damage

• Failure to Drive Upon Right.

He was able to pay the minimum 7% of his $300 bond and assigned a date in Stamford Superior Court on Sept 4, 2026.
