Greenwich Conservation Commission to Host Fishway Workshop for Volunteers

The Conservation Commission is looking to expand its current volunteer base and monitoring program at the Mianus Pond Fishway.

The commission is looking for interested people to help with the fish ladder once a week from April to June.

As part of this effort, all interested residents are invited to attend a workshop/informational meeting on Wednesday, March 7th, 6:30-8pm, Town Hall Hayton Room (3rd Floor).

Participants in the workshop will learn about the history of the fishway, the fishes that utilize it, how it is operated, and the duties volunteers are expected to perform.

No prior knowledge of fish passage is needed to attend. Local residents, fishing groups, watershed associations, and town employees are encouraged to attend.

There is no fee for this program – pre-registration is required so we can have appropriate numbers of handouts, etc.  To register or for more information contact Sarah Nahabedian at 203-622-6461 or [email protected]
