Sip & Shop Girls’ Night Out Boutique Returns to OG to Raise Funds for Cancer Research

Back by popular demand is the shopping extravaganza Sip & Shop Girls’ Night Out Boutique, held at the gorgeous new club house at Innis Arden Golf Club at 120 Tomac Avenue in Old Greenwich from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm, Thursday, November 9, 2023.

The event is open to the public (no denim please) and is organized by Roseann Benedict and Nancy Carr, two life-long Greenwich residents, who have been running the popular Sip & Shop event since its inception in 2016.

The Sip & Shop Girls’ Night Out Boutique brings together more than 40 different local vendors, many which are women-owned, for a fabulous night out of shopping, cocktails and socializing.

A portion of the evening’s proceeds will support Swim Across America Fairfield County and its local Stamford-based beneficiary Alliance for Cancer Gene Therapy, which funds innovative cancer cell and gene therapies.

Sip & Shop Girls’ Night Out is the brainchild of Roseann Benedict and Nancy Carr, friends for more than 20 years, who met when their children were in nursery school. Both Roseann and Nancy are local business leaders who created this event to bring together and foster the business ventures of other local women.

Roseann’s day job is as one of the top realtor sales agents at Compass Real Estate in Greenwich, and Nancy Carr is a personal stylist with J. Hilburn custom menswear, as well as co-event director of Swim Across America Fairfield County.

The two Greenwich residents have combined their retail, fashion, community and fundraising expertise to create the Sip & Shop Girls’ Night Out Boutique – to offer something fun, entrepreneurial and a means to fundraise for crucial cancer research, a topic that is so important to the Greenwich community and to Nancy and Roseann personally.

“Sip & Shop Girls’ Night Out had a little hiatus the last couple years in 2020 through 2022 from COVID, with a virtual shopping event in 2020,” noted Nancy Carr.

“We are so excited to be back in-person this November 9 — and at the beautiful new Innis Arden Golf Clubhouse! Everyone loves a night out to shop and be social — and to be able to do it for good cause raising funds for Swim Across America Fairfield County and ACGT is even better.”

For Roseann Benedict, raising funds for new ways to treat cancer is something she is passionate about as well.

“Anything we can do to raise funds that go directly into creating new and better, more effective treatments for cancer are worth it,” she said. “The Greenwich community, and actually all of Fairfield County, has been incredible at raising funds that really do make a difference.”

Sip & Shop Girls’ Night Out Boutique has supported Swim Across America Fairfield County since its inception in 2016. Swim Across America Fairfield County held its first open water event in 2007 and is held annually on the border of Old Greenwich and Stamford in Long Island Sound. The organization is a national nonprofit dedicated to raising money and awareness for cancer research, prevention and treatment through swimming-related events, including more than 20 open water swims across the country from Nantucket to under the Golden Gate Bridge. Founded by Darien, Connecticut, resident Matt Vossler and his college roommate Jeff Keith in 1987, its roots are firmly anchored in Connecticut. Locally, Swim Across America Fairfield County has granted more than $5 million to Alliance for Cancer Gene Therapy (ACGT), the nation’s only foundation dedicated exclusively to funding cancer gene therapy research. One hundred percent of funds contributed by Swim Across America to ACGT go directly to cancer research.
