This time last year, as the world adjusted to a new “normal” marked by social distancing and separation, the Greenwich community stepped up for Community Centers, Inc (CCI) by joining its inaugural virtual walk-a-thon.
This year, as we enter a season full of progress and hope, CCI wants to do it again and we invite the community to join in.
Established in 1955, CCI is a Greenwich-based social service agency dedicated to building skills that empower clients to overcome educational, social, and economic barriers.
CCI provides homework clubs, tutoring, after-school activities and summer enrichment programs for kids; therapeutic counseling and supportive social groups for teens, seniors, special needs adults and families in crisis.
CCI provides Staff and volunteers met the challenges of the pandemic by implementing programming remotely, creating an in-person learning pod for high school students, and addressing the tremendous increase in food insecurity in our community.
CCI pivoted to meet the needs of its clients by delivering fresh produce, groceries, meat and dairy twice a week to over 350 people. “Move for CCI” will be held on Sunday, May 16 (rain date May 23rd) at a time and location of your choice. This year we encourage supporters to move however they like (whatever makes you smile): walk, bike, run, dance, kayak, golf, use a stationary bike or treadmill.
To participate please sign up at www.justgiving.com/campaign/moveforcci, reach out to your friends and sponsors, and then move for either the length of time or distance you choose.
This second annual virtual walk-a-thon can be done alone or with friends, in person or virtually – whatever you are comfortable with.
If you need assistance setting up your activity or finding sponsors, please reach out to Tyiese Wilson at [email protected] or 203-869-1276.
