Community Centers of Greenwich Kicks off Annual “Move-a-Thon”

Community Centers Inc, a non-profit organization that supports Greenwich residents in need kicked off its third annual Move-a-Thon at Town Hall on Friday.

CCI board members and staff joined with Selectman Fred Camillo and Selectpersons Lauren Rabin and Janet Stone McGuigan for a walk around the track.

Others from Town Hall included Town Clerk Jackie Budkins, Tax Collector Heather Smeriglio, Department of Human Services head Demetria Nelson and Youth Coordinator Danielle Jean-Guillaume Sittol.

Throughout the weekend supporters of CCI will participate in this annual event by “moving” in an activity of their choice – walking, running, biking, dancing etc.

Since 1955 CCI has served the neediest members of the Greenwich community, providing support wherever needed including all through the pandemic. Every dollar pledged during the Move-a-Thon helps CCI clients overcome barriers, meet with success, and be fully participating members of our community.

Whether we are assisting people to become American citizens, providing food to those in need, offering academic support to school-age children, emotional and social support to adults with special needs, or helping senior citizens maintain their independence, CCI does it all at virtually no cost to our clients.

“We pivoted to a virtual event during the pandemic to encourage participation from as many supporters as possible – we have been thrilled with the response,” said Gaby Rattner executive director in a release.
