Back in 2018 after the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas in Parkland, Florida, the first March For Our Lives rally took place in DC, with rallies across the country.
On June 11, in addition to an event in DC, there will again be hundreds of local marches on the same day, across the nation.
Nearby, in Stamford there will be a March For Our Lives rally on Saturday at 11:00am at Mill River Park, Broad Street & Washington Blvd in Stamford to demand an end to gun violence.
Attendees are invited to bring homemade signs.
The event is organized by Stamford March For Our Lives, The ENOUGH Campaign, Moms Demand Action, Million Dollar Smile, CT Against Gun Violence, Mill River Collaborative, and the City of Stamford.
From the organizers:
Nineteen children and two adults were killed in a horrifying spree of gun violence at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas, on May 24, 2022 in what is now the second-deadliest school shooting in the United States.
In the face of this tragedy, the Senate is stalling in passing universal background checks for gun ownership. Even as the nation cries out for justice, the government fails to act. Hence, it falls to the youth of the future to take up the mantle and push for meaningful change.
We need to continue advocating for funding to support our local violence disruptors; we must demand support for the people working on the ground with youth in our communities to end community gun violence.
Change starts with a first step. We call on you to take the first step and stand with us and thousands others at hundreds of March For Our Lives events nationwide on June 11th at 11:00 AM for an in-person rally in Stamford at Mill River Park!
Directions: Enter Mill River Park at the corner of Broad St. & Washington Boulevard.
