GADC River HouseThis spring, Caregiver Circle has focused its four sessions on various topics regarding safety for the caregiver as well as the care partner.  The series kicks off on Wednesday, March 9th and will be held on alternating Wednesdays from 11:45am to 1pm at River House, 125 River Road Extension, Cos Cob.  Lunch will be provided.

Topics will include Home Safety Jeopardy with the Family & Children’s Agency on Wednesday, March 9th; Personal Safety and Crime Prevention with the Greenwich Police Department on Wednesday, March 23rd; Safety and Body Mechanics with Select Rehab for Nathaniel Witherell on Wednesday, April 6th; and Financial Victimization with the Greenwich Police Department on Wednesday, April 20th.

Caregiver Circle is free and designed for non-professional caregivers in the community.  With prior arrangements, respite can be offered.  All interested participants are asked to call Lynn at 203-622-0079 for more information or to register.  After each presentation, caregivers are welcome to speak with Jane Kramer, LCSW, Director of Social Services at River House, who can offer counsel and resources at no additional cost.

The Caregiver Circle was founded in 2009 by River House, the Commission on Aging, the Greenwich Chapter of the Red Cross, and the Junior League of Greenwich with the purpose of helping caregivers gain an understanding of the many issues related to care giving.  The complete schedule can be found online at www.theRiverHouse.org.
