The sixth annual Turkey Trot benefited from pleasant weather the day after Thanksgiving, on Saturday, Nov 25.
The event, held a the Arch Street Teen Center, had a great turnout, with well over 1,000 runners participating.
The Turkey Trot is an annual fundraiser held the weekend after Thanksgiving. It’s a fun community event that has grown year after year.
Hosted by the Greenwich Alliance for Education, all of the money raised during the event goes toward funding programs that support literacy, innovation, enrichment and work toward closing the achievement gap.
“The Turkey Trot is a great family event for the entire Greenwich community,” said Marlene Gilbert, the Board Chair for the Greenwich Alliance for Education.
“For many families, it has become an annual event to participate in over Thanksgiving weekend,” she continued. “We have many large multi- generation family groups sign up and participate in the event together.”
The event was organized by the Greenwich Alliance for Education’s Turkey Trot co-chairs Jane Hentemann and Maureen Bonanno.
Between the high energy volunteers, a great DJ helping to motivate all the runners, and plenty of snacks to go around, the event was a tremendous success.
