What to Know about Greenwich Fireworks on Saturday, July 5: Binney & Greenwich Point

The Department of Parks & Recreation announces the locations of the two Town Fireworks Displays in celebration of Independence Day. Once again, the Town will present displays at Binney Park and Greenwich Point Park. Both shows are scheduled for Saturday, July 5.

The Binney Park Show will start at approximately 9:10pm and the Greenwich Point Show will begin at approximately 9:35pm.

In case of rain, both shows will be held on Sunday, July 6 at the same locations and times. It is strongly recommended that anyone planning to attend either display, and especially the Greenwich Point display, arrive early and bring a working flashlight. Information sheets on the Greenwich Point display are available at the Greenwich Point Ticket Booth.

GREENWICH POINT FIREWORK SHOW

Greenwich Point – Event Information
• Spectators at Greenwich Point will be entertained by a disc jockey stationed near the South Concession area starting at 7:00 p.m.
• The Greenwich Point fireworks will begin at approximately 9:35 p.m. The display will be fired from the corner of Greenwich Point (Bluff Point), well beyond the South Concession Stand. There are many areas at Greenwich Point that will provide an outstanding view of the fireworks and spectators on boat will also be able to enjoy the show from the water.
• A limited area of the Point will be restricted from public use on the day of the fireworks. This restriction will be enforced. People interested in walking the Point the day of the show will be required to take a detour around the Bluff Point Area of the Park, and this detour will take them up to Founder’s Rock.
• A Police Command Post will be set-up near the main entrance gate. There will be an area for lost parents/children located at the GEMS field service unit near the South Concession Stand. Paramedics will patrol grounds to assist with the public.
• Greenwich Point will be closed immediately following the conclusion of the display. As always, spectators are urged to car pool, plan their evening in advance, and be patient. Measures will again be taken by Town Safety personnel to provide a safe and efficient exit from Greenwich Point after the fireworks. These measures will include: a managed parking and traffic flow plan, assistance from G.E.M.S. with medical coverage, and portable lighting at strategic locations around the Point. Police will also establish a walker/biker lane on the causeway to exit the Point after the show.

Greenwich Point – Park Entry Rules
• Verified Residents with a OnePass with valid 2025 Park Pass will be required all day. Online ticket sales are available 24/7 at www.greenwichct.gov/webtrac.
• Non-verified Customers will require a per person Single Entry Park Ticket between 7 a.m.–5 p.m. for ages 5 and up. A Single-Entry Vehicle Ticket is always required for each vehicle.
• Online Ticket Sales for non-verified individuals at www.greenwichct.gov/webtrac Monday – Friday from 9 a.m.–5 p.m. and in person on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m.–1 p.m. (or until sold out for the day) are available at the Cos Cob Dockmaster Office, 94 Strickland Road, Cos Cob, CT 06807.

Greenwich Point – Accessibility and Parking
• Greenwich Point will be closed to all vehicles when parking has reached its capacity, or 8:30pm, whichever comes first. Cooperation with the Police will be needed. This means vehicles leaving Greenwich Point Park will not be able to reenter and passengers will not be allowed to be dropped-off or picked-up once Greenwich Point is closed to all vehicles.
• There will be extra handicapped parking available at Greenwich Point Park, near the South Concession Stand.
• The Point will still be open to walkers, joggers, and bicyclists under the normal rules and regulations of the park.

Greenwich Point – Rules & Regulations
• Spectators wishing to attend the Greenwich Point display must remember that the rules for Greenwich Point access will be the same as usual on the day of the fireworks.
• Tailgating will not be permitted in the Greenwich Point Park Lots during and during and after the display.
• Cooking is allowed only in regularly designated picnic areas and at Town owned grills.
• Glassware is not permitted on or within 200 feet of the beach and swimming will not be allowed after sunset.
• Dogs are not allowed in Greenwich Point Park.
• No Open Flame Candles, Sparklers, Chinese Fire Lanterns, Bomb Bags, Sky Lanterns, Snappers or any other type of fireworks will be allowed in Greenwich Point Park. This will be strictly enforced.
• Spectators are urged to bring a working flashlight.
• Leaving the Point on bicycles is not advisable, especially for children.

BINNEY PARK FIREWORK SHOW

Binney Park – Event Information
• Park Passes are not required for entrance to Binney Park.
• The Binney Park display will once again feature entertainment from the Sound Beach Community Band. They will begin performing at 8:00 p.m. and will be located on the Showmobile near the flag pole by Sound Beach Avenue.
• An area at Binney Park will be restricted from public use on the day of the fireworks. This will be enforced. People wishing to walk though Binney Park will not be able to walk on a large section of the athletic fields.
• The Binney Park fireworks display will start approximately at 9:10 p.m.
• The Binney Park Field House and rest rooms will be closed the day of the fireworks. Portable facilities will be located at various areas of the park.
• Vendors will be located near the Binney Park Tennis Courts by Wesskum Wood Road.
• A Police Command Post, and GEMS will be set-up near the tennis courts. Lost parents and children may also go to the main stage near the flag pole. The stage will be open until 15 minutes after the fireworks.
• Binney Park will close immediately after the Fireworks Display. Please cooperate with the Police to provide a quick and orderly exit for all.

Binney Park – Accessibility and Parking
• Police will be available to assist with traffic and pedestrians. Wesskum Wood Road will be closed to traffic by Police by early evening.
• There are several nearby lots that are available for parking on a first-come, first-serve basis, including Old Greenwich Train Station lots, Cohen Eastern Greenwich Civic Center, Perrot Memorial Library, Old Greenwich School, Eastern Middle School, and Riverside School.
• Handicapped Parking will be available on Binney Park Drive near the tennis courts under Police supervision beginning at 4:30 p.m. Vehicles with appropriate permits must notify the on-duty police for assistance and please plan to arrive early.
• All other parking on Binney Park Drive will be prohibited on the day of the display.

Binney Park – Rules & Regulations
• Grills, cooking, and open fires will be prohibited in Binney Park.
• No Open Flame Candles, Sparklers, Chinese Fire Lanterns, Bomb Bags, Sky Lanterns, Snappers or any other type of fireworks will be allowed at Binney Park. This will be strictly enforced.
• Tree climbing is not allowed.
• Spectators are not allowed to place canvas tarps or large rocks on the ground as they damage the park lawn.
• It is important to remember that pets should never be brought to any fireworks display as it is not safe for them. Any pets brought to Binney Park must be leashed and you are responsible for cleaning up after your pet.
