Santa Arrives and Gifts Abound during Toys for Tots Drive in Cos Cob

The Toys for Tots Drive resulted in abundant gifts for children on Saturday. At Cos Cob Fire House, Jack Kriskey, Ronny Staplefield and Kerrin Coyle were among the many volunteers eagerly awaiting Santa Claus.

There were also members of Greenwich Police Dept, including Chief Chief Heavey and Officer Hayes Scaglia, as well as Police Explorers and abundant volunteers.

A stream of young children arrived to hand deliver gifts and meet Corporal Frank Downing and Sergeant Rob Mauerman.

“We serve about 300 families at the warehouse in North Branford,” said Corporal Downing. “They were all just super appreciative and thankful. A lot of people returned from the previous year.”

The gifts collected from Cos Cob Saturday morning were all set to be driven by the Marines in their truck to North Branford after making a second stop in Banksville later in the morning.

“This is something we’re glad to support,” said Police Chief Heavey, adding that the Greenwich Police Dept has been participating in the Toys for Tots drive for about 6 or 7 years.
