Each year, in the days leading up to the annual Pumpkin Patch fundraiser – a day of fun, games, food and pumpkins – the PTA organizes the pumpkin lady’s unveiling and, with the countdown from 10, the giant tarp masking the giant pumpkin is lifted from the end of a pulley.

The Pumpkin Patch co-chairs JJ Worden and Cata Zamorano Cordero announced winners of the t-shirt decorating contest and led the students in singing the school song.

The Pumpkin Patch event, set for October 13, promises an epic haunted house, famous running scared obstacle course, hay maze, bounce houses, games, face painting, balloon guy and karaoke.

There will also be cotton candy and an array of great food.

As the children waited for the final countdown from 10 on Tuesday, Mrs. Worden read aloud a poem penned by the Pumpkin Lady herself:

I sit and wait for us to meet
Underneath this big brownsheet
I live my life for this time of year
And I’m so glad fall is finally here!
But while I waited for this day
I didn’t sit and waste the days away
You see, I too love the sun
And to catch a wave and shred a run
To eat ice cream and roll in the sand
On an island or warm faraway land
But now I’m back, our time is near!
Your 2018 Pumpkin Lady is here!
