As Fairfield County’s largest independent diaper bank, Mothers for Others has provided over 900,000 diapers to low income families.
This year, Mothers for Others expects to distribute its one-millionth diaper.
This Mother’s Day through Father’s Day, join Mothers for Others in its most ambitious campaign to date with a community-wide virtual diaper drive to fund the diapers that will take us to one million.
“This is an exciting time for Mothers for Others,” said Karen Giannuzzi, co-president and founder of Mothers for Others in a release. “We have seen the need for diapers increase dramatically in recent years with the rising cost of diapers and other household essentials. We have been able to meet this demand thanks to the incredible support of our community, donors and volunteers.”
The cost to diaper one child for one year is close to $1,000 and diapers are not covered by any federal or state assistance programs.
One in four parents experiencing diaper need have missed work because they did not have enough diapers to send their baby or toddler to childcare.
One in four have skipped meals in order to afford diapers.
Mothers for Others would like to thank those that have participated in the virtual diaper drives: McArdle’s Garden and Floral Design, Ivy Rehab, Timo & Violet, Choice Pet, Old Greenwich School, Brunswick School, Salon 221, Putnam Indian Field School, Pacai Skincare, Macrae Skye, By the Way Bakery, Sam Bridge Nursery and Greenhouses, Katie Fong Boutique, Dr. Katie Integrative Medicine, LLF Studio, Splash Car Wash, Minute Men Cleaners and Greenwich Library.
Visit Mothers for Others on social media (@mothersforothersct) as they recognize additional virtual diaper drive partners in the coming weeks.
“Our virtual diaper drives allow Mothers for Others to purchase diapers at wholesale prices and in the exact sizes and quantities needed,” Giannuzzi said. “We’re thrilled to have businesses, local organizations and schools joining us to promote the Road to One Million and share information about Mothers for Others and diaper need.”
