Hammer & Nails Barber Takes to the Road to Give a Veteran a Haircut and Beard Trim

At Hammer & Nails, an extraordinary barbershop that offers men’s haircuts, shaves, face care, manicures and pedicures, the staff take pride not just in providing quality grooming services to their members, but they also embrace opportunities to give back to the Greenwich community.

Recently, an unexpected call gave them the chance to make a difference in the life of a local hero — a veteran who was staying at Greenwich Hospital.

The call came out of the blue. Greenwich’s Phil Brous was on the other end asking if Hammer & Nails had a barber available to visit the hospital and provide a veteran in the hospital’s care a much-needed haircut and beard trim.

Without hesitation, they said yes.

“We knew it was an opportunity to do something meaningful. It wasn’t just about giving a haircut. It was about showing appreciation for a man who served our country,” said Quinn Carroll.

Sent to Greenwich Hospital was Satish, one of the talented barbers at Hammer & Nails, who was more than eager to give Billy — the veteran — a fresh, clean look. The experience was nothing short of heartwarming for everyone involved. For Billy, it was a moment of personal care and dignity that he had been longing for. For Satish and the Hammer & Nails team, it was a chance to offer a small act of kindness that meant the world to someone in need.

“It was such a wonderful and fulfilling experience for all of us,” said Satish, reflecting on the visit. “Billy’s gratitude was overwhelming. It really reminded me why I became a barber in the first place — to make people feel good, both inside and out.”

“At Hammer & Nails, we’re proud to operate on a membership model that allows our clients to accrue credits,” Carroll said.  And when our members find that they have more credits than they can use, we encourage them to donate those credits to special programs like this one. The love and support shared during this visit was a perfect example of how our business model extends beyond just grooming — it’s about giving back to those who need it the most.”

The Hammer & Nails team said the effort was about building a community of care, not just around their clients, but around those who may be facing tough times.

They said they would like to continue to offer small acts of kindness that can truly have a big impact, including supporting local veterans, the community at large, and those in need by offering the same level of care and attention that they give their members.

“We are grateful for this opportunity to show appreciation to a brave individual and are looking forward to future moments where we can give back even more,” Carroll said.

If you’re interested in helping support these efforts, remember that at Hammer & Nails Greenwich, you can contribute to special programs like this by donating your unused membership credits.
