Coffee for Good is a Featured Non-Profit during 8th Annual Fairfield County Giving Day, Feb 25

Fairfield County Giving Day is Thursday, Feb 25 and Coffee for Good is hopeful for support from the community.

While the 24 hour giving day is a fundraiser for many worthwhile nonprofits located in the county, Coffee for Good is a new nonprofit that will operate a coffee shop, open to the public, as a training platform for people with disabilities.

The non profit is half way toward their fundraising goal and they plan to open in late April or early May.

The way the giving day works is that funds are awarded to nonprofits with greatest number of donors.

An important goal for Coffee for Good is to become a self-sustaining nonprofit whereby the operation of the coffee shop and online store will support its primary mission.

Coffee for Good expects to break even in its second year of operation, but fundraising has under way to build and equip the cafe, and cover start-up costs.

There is a shortage of training programs for people with disabilities, and Coffee for Good will offer paid trainees professional and technical training.

In fact, Americans with disabilities suffer from chronic unemployment rates of over 80%.

Executive Director of Coffee for Good Deb Rogan has said she believes that the cafe’s unique, on-the-job training program will equip trainees with the skills to allow them to secure employment in other cafes, hospitality and retail jobs.
