Greenwich Youth Football League players, families, friends and cheerleaders came out to celebrate the former president of the Cos Cob Crushers, coach and friend Pat Bria on Sunday with a tailgate and ceremony at Cardinal stadium.
The event marked the one year anniversary of the passing of Bria, a lifelong Greenwich resident who coached the Cos Cob Crushers youth football team for 36years.

“Pat’s love for football and our youth was bigger than life, and today was a beautiful reminder of the impact he made,” said Kelley DeLuca, Bria’s partner and founder of the Pat Bria Scholarship Fund. “I am beyond grateful for the love and support shown in continuing his legacy.”
The foundation awards an annual scholarship to a graduating High School football player to recognize the dedication, hard work, and positive impact these student-athletes make on their team, their school, and the Greenwich community.
“Pat Bria was more than a devoted friend—he was a true champion of youth sports in our community, especially youth football,” said Kaan Aslansan, GYFL President. “He cared for every child regardless of circumstance, always ensuring they felt supported, included, and valued. The scholarship fund will stand as a lasting legacy of Pat’s generosity, leadership, and profound impact on generations of Greenwich youth.”
